It's almost time for our Fall Book Fair! I know the students are getting excited. I always love to add some of the books from the Book Fair to our library collection. This is good for those students who REALLY wanted to read a certain book, but either couldn't buy it, or just wanted something else more. Therefore, this week and next week, I will be adding some of those Fall Book Fair books to the library collection.

New Picture Book

The Adventures of Beekle: The Unimaginary Friend by Dan Santat. This book is a 2015 Caldecott Medal winner.

Check out the book video below...

"This magical story begins on an island far away where an imaginary friend is born. He patiently waits his turn to be chosen by a real child, but when he is overlooked time and again, he sets off on an incredible journey to the bustling city, where he finally meets his perfect match and-at long last-is given his special name: Beekle. New York Times bestselling and award-winning author and illustrator Dan Santat combines classic storytelling with breathtaking art, creating an unforgettable tale about friendship, imagination, and the courage to find one's place in the world. - See more here." -Image and blurb from hachettbookgroup.com

New Chapter Book

Judy Moody: Mood Martian by Megan McDonald. This is book #12 in the Judy Moody series.

"Will the real Judy Moody please stand up? In honor of Backwards Day, Judy Moody decides to turn that frown upside down, make lemonade out of lemons, and be nice to stinky little brothers. In fact, Judy becomes a NOT moody, cool-as-a-cucumber neat freak for one whole entire day. But when her combed hair, matching outfits, and good moods hang around for days after, her friends begin to worry. Could this smiley Judy be an imposter?" -Image and blurb from goodreads.com

New Nonfiction Book

Monsters: Myth or Fact - a Scholastic Discover More Reader, Level 2. These books introduce early readers to the world around them with exquisite photographs and leveled text. A free digital companion book extends the learning online.

"A Scholastic Level 2 Reader all about monsters and whether they really exist!

Prepare to be scared! Come face-to-face with some of the world's most famous monsters and creatures: the Komodo dragon, giant squid, vampire bats, the Minotaur, Hydra, Bigfoot, and Yeti. Are they myth? Or fact? This Level 2 Reader explores the reality behind all of the most terrifying monsters. The book uses simple text and full-color photographs and artwork throughout.

With compelling themes, supporting facts, technical vocabulary, vivid maps and charts, and a variety of writing styles and text structures, Scholastic Discover More Readers are tailored to the new era of high expectations. The unique informational text reading levels have been developed and vetted by Scholastic reading experts." -Image and blurb from Scholastic.com
