Thanksgiving Books!
This week and next week, I will be adding some great new books to the library for Thanksgiving! I didn't want to wait too long, because I wanted you all to be able to check them out and USE them before Fall break! So, here are this week's books.
New Picture Book
Thanksgiving is Here! by Diane Goode. This is a sweet story of a large family getting together for a meal and visiting on Thanksgiving. It appeals to students in grades PreK-3.

"As soon as Maggie's grandma and grandpa get the turkey in the oven, bright and early on Thanksgiving morning, the guests arrive and the commotion begins: glamorous aunts, crying babies, acrobatic cousins, strange dogs, mysterious gifts, romance, friendships, "yackety-yak"ing and, of course, lots of wonderful food and fun.
You'll find a new story every time you read this joyous celebration of Thanksgiving!" -Image and blurb from orangemarmaladebooks.com.
New Chapter Book
The Thanksgiving Day from the Black Lagoon by Mike Thaler. Students who enjoyed the Black Lagoon picture books (but are ready for a chapter book to read) will surely like this addition to the library. This book is on a 2nd-3rd grade reading level.
"November is here, and Hubie's class is giving thanks for the things they enjoy most: football, turkey, and vacation. They're even going to have a parade! But how can Hubie be thankful when none of his friends will make a float with him? And how can he eat all of that food for Thanksgiving dinner?
New Nonfiction Book
Thank You, Sarah: The Woman Who Saved Thanksgiving by Laurie Halse Anderson.

"We the people of the United States...
Almost Lost Thanksgiving. Yes. That's right!
Way back when "skirts were long and hats were tall" Americans were forgetting Thanksgiving, and nobody seemed to care!
Thankfully, Sarah Hale appeared. More steadfast than Plymouth Rock, this lady editor knew the holiday needed saving. But would her recipe for rescue ever convince Congress and the presidents?
Join acclaimed author Laurie Halse Anderson on a journey of a woman and a pen that spanned four decades, the Civil War, and five presidents, all so you could have your turkey and eat it too!"
Be sure to check back next week for more new Thanksgiving books!
