Thanksgiving Books Part 2!

Like last week, I am adding some great new books to the library for Thanksgiving! I hope you liked last week's new books. Here are this week's books.

New Picture Book

"The Thanksgiving feast is over. Leftover turkey and pumpkin pie litter the table. Mouse peeps out of his hidey-hole and spots a small green pea, the perfect feast for one mouse. Yes, one green pea, one red cranberry, one plate of mashed potatoes, and one roasted turkey--that should make a very fine feast for Mouse. But can he get it all back to his mouse table? This warm and humorous picture book gently reminds us to give thanks for the little things." -Image and blurb from JudyCox.net

New Chapter Book

Charlie Bumpers vs. The Perfect Little Turkey by Bill Harley. This is book 4 in the Charlie Bumpers series. We got book 3, Charlie Bumpers vs. The Squeaking Skull, last year. This book is a Junior Library Guild selection.

Check out the book trailer below...

"Charlie is looking forward to the big Thanksgiving gathering at his house this year, but he's having trouble being a polite host to his super-annoying little cousin Chip. It's Thanksgiving in the Bumpers household, and Charlie has to be the perfect host to his annoying little cousin, Chip. Chip makes everything hard for Charlie, gets him in trouble, ruins his things, and generally makes a nuisance of himself. On top of that, for homework, Mrs. Burke has assigned Charlie the task of writing what a family is to him. How will Charlie be able to see past his turkey of a cousin to understand the real meaning of family?" -Image and blurb from BillHarley.com

New Nonfiction Book

Snoopy's Thanksgiving by Charles M. Schulz. I always love sharing Peanuts movies, books, and decor with the students around the holidays. This is a new addition to the comic strip/graphic novel section.

"Sometimes getting together with friends and family for Thanksgiving isn t all that it's cracked up to be, as Snoopy learns when his brother Spike invites him to spend Thanksgiving in the desert, and things don't quite work out as planned. At least it's a change of pace for Snoopy, who spends most Thanksgivings with the ol supper dish (and one lonely one at the malt shoppe as Joe Cool). It's also a tense time of year to be a bird who's afraid of being mistaken for a turkey and roasted, and Woodstock copes with his anxieties in various ways, including by donning a disguise with Snoopy's help. Meanwhile, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, and Franklin all get sick over their Thanksgiving vacation. Snoopy's Thanksgiving is the perfect gift book for anyone whose idea of the holiday is more Charlie Brown than Norman Rockwell."

No post next week! Enjoy your holiday with friends and family!
